Delphin, whose name literally means “dolphin,” is a dolphin spirit in Poseidon’s employ. He may be Amphitrite’s brother. When Amphitrite fled from Poseidon’s advances, Delphin found her, advised Poseidon of her location, and ultimately persuaded Amphitrite to emerge and marry Poseidon, thus making Poseidon King of the Sea. Poseidon rewarded Delphin by placing him in the sky as the constellation Delphinus.
