Hyperion (the one above) In Greek mythology, a Titan, son of Uranus and Gaea; husband of his sister Theia; father of the Sun (Helios), the Dawn (Eos), and the Moon (Selene), according to Hesiod’s Theogony (371 ff). Hyperion is sometimes used as the name of the sun itself. In some accounts Hyperion is said to be a son of Apollo. Keats’s unfinished poem Hyperion (1818) tells how Hyperion, the last of the Titans, is about to be deposed by Apollo, the Olympian sun god.
