Chalcomancy is the art of drawing omens by listening to the sounds and tones made by striking metal bowls or chalices with special mallets.

Etymology

Derived from the Greek khalkos ('copper') and manteia ('divination'),

Methods

Traditionally the bowl or chalice is made out of brass or copper, but other metals can also be used.

History

Chalcomancy was a prevalent Tibetan method of divining the past, the present, and future.
