The Demon Caim (Caym, Camio) is a Fallen Angel and 52nd of the 72 Spirits of Solomon. Prior to his fall, Caim was in the order of Angels. In Hell, he is a great president with 30 Legions of Demons. He appears first as a black bird or thrush and then as a man carrying a sharp sword. Sometimes he appears as a man adorned with a tuft and a peacock’s tail. He answers questions in burning ashes. He is good at settling disputes. He gives men the understanding of the songs of birds, the lowing of cattle, the barking of dogs, and the voice of waters. He gives true answers about the future. Martin Luther reportedly had an encounter with Caim.

CAMIO or CAIM. – The Fifty-third Spirit is Camio, or Caim. He is a Great President, and appeareth in the Form of the Bird called a Thrush at first, but afterwards he putteth on the Shape of a Man carrying in his Hand a Sharp Sword. He seemeth to answer in Burning Ashes, or in Coals of Fire. He is a Good Disputer. His Office is to give unto Men the Understanding of all Birds,Lowing of Bullocks, Barking of Dogs, and other Creatures; and also of the Voice of the Waters. He giveth True Answers of Things to Come. He wasof the Order of Angels, but now ruleth over 30 Legions of Spirits Infernal. His Seal is this, which wear thou, etc.

Caim [Caym] is a great president, taking the forme of a thrush [blackbird], but when he putteth on man’s shape, he answereth in burning ashes, carrieng in his hand a most sharpe swoord, he maketh the best disputers, he giveth men the understanding of all birds, of the lowing of bullocks, and barking of dogs, and also of the sound and noise of waters, he answereth best of things to come, he was of the order of angels, and ruleth thirtie legions of divels.

Caym magnus Præses, formam assumens merulæ: at quum hominem induit, respondet in favilla ardente, ferens in manu glagium [sic gladium] acutissimum. Once with the order of angels, and currently, high president of hell, Caym commands 30 legions. He appears in the form of a blackbird, a main coifed with a headdress and adorned with a peacock tail, or human carrying a tapering sword, and responds from the midst of a burning brazier. It is said that Caym is the most wise occupant of hell, and that he could outwit even the most seasoned logician. It was with him that Luther had his famous dispute from which he spared us the details. Caym teaches communication with animals and waves and knows of the future.
