(1997) Film directed by Anthony Walker that uses some of the same plot elements as its predecessor, AN AMERICAN Werewolf IN LONDON (1981), but is more of a horror film. In this version, three young men are traveling on their own: Andy (Tom Everett Scott), Brad (Vince Vieluf), and Chris (Phil Buckman). The trip is a “Daredevil Tour of Europe,” with the three vying against one another to see who can perform the most dangerous stunt. Andy decides to bungee-jump off the Eiffel Tower. There he saves the life of a young woman, Serafine (Julie Delpy), who attempts to commit SUICIDE. Her secret is that she is a werewolf. Andy falls in love with Serafine, but she remains elusive. One night Andy and Brad to go a Paris nightclub that, unbeknownst to them, is gathering place of Werewolves. They are attacked. Brad is killed and Andy is wounded. As
in An American Werewolf in London, Andy is doomed to become a werewolf, and Brad is consigned to limbo. Brad appears to Andy, as did Jack to David in the earlier film. By 1997 special effects were more sophisticated, and Andy’s transformation into a wolfish beast is slick and mesmerizing, making David Naughton’s thrashings in the 1981 film look clumsy by comparison.
