Doris (bountiful) In Greek mythology, a sea goddess, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys; sister of Eidyia, Electra, Clymene, Meliboea, Metis, Perseis, Pleione, Proteus, Styk, Europa, Clytia, and Callirrhoë, the rivers and fountains; wife of the sea-god Nereus; mother of 50 daughters, called Nereids or Dorides, and in some myths mother of Amphitrite, Galatea, and Thetis.
