Melisenda

Melisenda In medieval Spanish legends, daughter of Charlemagne and the wife of Gayferos. She was captured by the Moors and held prisoner for seven years. Eventually, she was freed by her husband. Cervantes’s Don Quixote (part 2) has the tale acted out by puppets before the Don. This section of the novel was used by Manuel de Falla for his opera El retablo de maese Pedro.
