Alecto (Allecto) (the enticer) In Greek and Roman mythology, one of the three Furies, or Erinyes. The others were Megaera and Tisiphone. Alecto is cited in Vergil’s Aeneid (book 7), in Dante’s Divine Comedy (Inferno, canto 9) as “she who wails,” and in Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part II (5.5.39).
