Calydon In Greek mythology, son of Thestius, accidentally killed by his father; also the name of the son of Aetolus and Pronoe; the brother of Pleuron; husband of Aeolia; and father of Epicasta and Protogeneia. Calydon is also the name of a son of Ares and Astynome, turned into stone for seeing the goddess Artemis bathe. Finally, Calydon is the city of Aetolla, Greece, founded by Calydon and Pleuron, the setting for the Calydonian boar hunt.
