    Abderus

    Abderus (son of battle) In Greek mythology, a son of Hermes and Opus. A male lover of Heracles, the hero sent Abderus to guard the maneating mares of the Bistonian king Diomedes. When Heracles discovered the lad had been eaten by the mares, he built the city of Abdera in his lover’s memory.
