[dropcap]A[/dropcap]lveromancy is the practice of using sounds for divination.
There are many examples of natural sounds that can be interpreted as oracles or answer to questions: the sound of the waves, the wind that blows, the echo in the mountains and even birds whistling or singing.
Alveromancy is also linked to the fraudulent practices of peddlers who use so-called magic boxes.
