Chipping Sodbury

According to a story recounted to the folklorist Roy Palmer, a cat haunts the junction of Broad Street and High Street, but it is not precisely a ghost, for it has never died – indeed, it is immortal. Once, long ago, it was the pet of an alchemist who was trying to concoct a potion which would give him everlasting life. He succeeded, but, alas, left the saucer containing it where the cat could get at it … He never managed to repeat the experiment.
