Elivagar (rivers whipped by passing showers) In Norse mythology, a river located at the outer reaches of the mythological world, filled with venom that froze over the icy banks of Ginnungagap, the abyss from which the primeval giant Ymir was born. Elivagar is mentioned in the Prose Edda.
