Hebat / Hepit / Hepatu

Hebat/Hepit/Hepatu (Hittite) In Hittite mythology, Hebat was the wife of the storm god, Teshub. She was the goddess of beauty, fertility, and royalty. Hebat is sometimes depicted standing on her sacred animal, the lion. After the storm god’s failed attack on Ullikummi, the stone giant, Hebat was forced out of her temple and cut off from the other gods. As Teshub went to fight Ullikummi again, Hebat sat in a high watchtower and worried that her husband would be defeated once more. Finally, Tasmisus, Teshub’s brother, brought word of Teshub’s victory.
