Focalor: The Demon of Wind, Sea and Drowning
Focalor is a Fallen Angel and the 41st of the 72 Spirits of Solomon. Before his fall from Heaven, he belonged to the angelic order of Thrones, a high celestial rank associated with divine authority and cosmic justice.
After his fall, Focalor became a powerful duke of Hell, commanding 31 Legions of Demons. He appears in the form of a man with the wings of a griffin, combining human intelligence with the fierce, predatory symbolism of a mythic beast.
Powers and Abilities of Focalor
Focalor rules over the forces of wind and sea. His power is destructive and elemental. He can drown men, overturn vessels, and sink warships beneath the waves. His presence is associated with storms, shipwrecks, violent waters, and the deadly power of the ocean.
Yet Focalor is not entirely uncontrollable. According to Solomonic tradition, if he is commanded properly, he will not harm anyone. This makes him a dangerous but governable spirit within ceremonial magic: one who possesses immense destructive force, but whose actions may be restrained by the authority of the magician.
Focalor’s Hope of Return
One of the most intriguing details about Focalor is his hope for redemption. After 1,000 years, he is said to believe that he will return to the seventh heaven. This gives him a tragic and complex nature.
Focalor is not merely a demon of death and disaster. He is also a fallen celestial being who remembers Heaven and still longs for restoration. His myth carries the tension between destruction and obedience, damnation and hope, exile and the possibility of return.
The Occult Meaning of Focalor
Focalor represents the terrifying power of the elements when they are unleashed without mercy. He is the storm at sea, the hidden force beneath the waves, and the wind that can either carry a vessel forward or destroy it completely.
For occultists, Focalor is a spirit of dangerous currents, emotional depths, destructive power, and fallen majesty. His story reminds us that many demonic spirits were not born in darkness, but fell from light.

He was too of the Seventh Throne and seeks to return there after 1,000 years. Focalor governs 30 Legions of spirits and is a powerful servitor to summon in dreaming (Subconscious – Water – Leviathan) sorcery. He too has power of the Air, being a Luciferic Angel as well. “
