(bean grower) (died 399) In Christian legend, friend of Saint Jerome.

Feast, 27 December.

Fabiola had divorced her drunken husband and remarried. After her second husband’s death she devoted her life to works of charity, establishing the first Christian hospital in the West.

When she told Saint Jerome she wished to settle in Bethlehem, he advised her against it, saying she was too lively.

Thousands attended her funeral when she died in Rome.
