Gaulish Mythology
Gaulish mythology begins as an early Celtic religion, and eventually merges with Roman polytheism into the Gallo-Roman religion. Through years of interaction with surrounding cultures, the Gauls came to develop a complex mythology that was influenced by the Romans, other Celts and neighbouring Germanic peoples.
Since ancient Gaul did not have a sense of nationalism, the Gauls worshipped some common gods and goddesses, as well as many tribal or household dieties. Also, the Gauls did not write about their own religion, so much of what is known about their mythology is found in Latin works from Roman authors.
