Also known as the Engineers’ Castle, this palace was built by Tsar Paul I, who was assassinated there shortly after its completion. The castle is said to be haunted by Paul’s ghost, as well as other spirits of those who died there. Some visitors claim to have seen the ghostly figure of Paul I wandering the halls or heard the sounds of his footsteps echoing through the empty corridors.
