San Lucas Island Prison
Once a notorious prison island, San Lucas was operational from 1873 to 1991, housing some of Costa Rica’s most dangerous criminals. The prison was infamous for its harsh conditions and brutal treatment of inmates. Visitors have reported eerie sensations and the echoes of the anguished at this historical site. Some even claim to have seen the apparitions of former prisoners, roaming the dilapidated cells looking for justice or revenge.
