Cinnabar

Red sulphide of Mercury important in Alchemy. Cinnabar is called dragon’s blood and also has importance in magic.

When heated, cinnabar releases fumes of mercury, which condense in a silver magic mirror. Cinnabar is an ingredient in numerous formulae for the elixir, a form of the philosopher’s stone.
