Arae
Arae (altars) In Roman mythology, rocks in the Mediterranean between Africa and Sardinia. Vergil’s Aeneid (book 1) tells how Aeneas lost most of his fleet there. It is also the place where Aeneas and the Africans ratified a treaty.
