Arum

Arum – Uduk (Ethiopia) – The Supreme God and Creator, who made everything in the universe, including humans. According to the myth, a birapinya tree linked the heavens and Earth. (See also link between heaven and Earth.) This great tree reached up to the sky, which was much closer to Earth than it is now. Humans traveled back and forth between the sky and Earth by means of this tree, and the sky people used it to visit villages on Earth. One day, however, an elderly woman became angry because she thought she had been wronged, so she cut down the tree. There was no longer any way to get to the heavens, and the sky moved far away from Earth. Before this, death had not been permanent. After the destruction of the tree, death became final.
