Baldak Borisievich

Baldak Borisievich In Russian folklore, a hero who defeated the Turkish sultan. One day Baldak Borisievich, with 29 other young men, went directly to the Turkish sultan to “take from him his steed with the golden mane.” They accomplished the deed, and in the process they killed the sultan’s cat, spat in the sultan’s face, and hanged the sultan with a silken noose, his favourite pasha with a hempen noose, and his youngest daughter with a bast (rope of tree bark) noose.
