Barm Brack
Barm Brack— An Irish loaf or CAKE made with dried fruit, popular during the Halloween season. Quite often the barm brack serves as a FORTUNE CAKE. Barm brack is available commercially, and will often contain tokens including a ring (whoever gets this in a slice will be married in a year), a rag (spinsterhood), a pea (poverty) and a bean (wealth). The cake must be cut and buttered by a married person, out of sight of those who will be eating it.
