Dilmun

Dilmun In Near Eastern mythology (Sumerian), paradise, the place where the sun rises and the land of the living. At one time Dilmun lacked fresh water, which was supplied by Enki, the water god. Eaki ordered Utu, the sun god, to fill the land with fresh water taken from the earth. Dilmun was then turned into a divine garden. Dilmun appears in the epic poem Gilgamesh as the home of Utnapishtim and his wife, who were granted immortality after the great flood. Some scholars locate Dilmun in the Persian Gulf.
