Iesse: A demon who manifests if the proper perfumes are burned in his name, Iesse serves in the court of the infernal king of the air, Fornnouc. According to the Driscoll edition of the Sworn Book, Iesse can cure weakness and infirmity, and he also makes an inspiring tutor for those who gain his favour. Although he has a quick and agile mind, he is a capricious demon, prone to rapid changes in mood. In Peterson’s translation of the Sworn Book,
Iesse appears in the court of Formione, the king of the spirits of Jupiter. As a Jovian spirit, he governs positive emotions and worldly favours. In this text, he is also described as being connected to the east, presumably the eastern winds.
