Igarak: A demon whose name appears in the extensive list of infernal servants to the four demonic princes of the cardinal directions found in Mathers’ translation of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage. In attempting to offer a possible origin of this demon’s name, Mathers wanders far afield, suggesting that Igarak is actually derived from a Celtic word, carac, meaning “terrible.” In other versions of the Abramelin material, this demon’s name is spelled Igarag, and it may have originally been a palindrome.
