Macariel

Macariel: The ninth spirit in the order of the socalled wandering princes from the Ars Theurgia.

Macariel is said to appear in diverse forms but most commonly assumes the form of a dragon with multiple heads. Each of these heads has the comely face of a woman. He is attended by dukes and many inferior spirits, of which his twelve chief dukes are named in the text. Despite his often monstrous appearance, he is described as possessing a basically good nature. In another portion of the same text, Macariel appears again. Here he is
described as a mighty duke who serves the prince Icosiel. He has two thousand two hundred lesser spirits to serve him. This version of Macariel delights in houses and often manifests in private homes. Macariel is also named in the Steganographia of Johannes Trithemius, a work dating to the end of the 1400s.
