Mae Nak Shrine (Wat Mahabut) – Bangkok

The story of Mae Nak is one of Thailand’s most famous ghost legends. According to the tale, Nak was a young woman who died during childbirth while her husband was away at war. Upon his return, Nak’s spirit pretended to be alive, but when her husband discovered the truth, she became a vengeful ghost. Today, Mae Nak is honoured at a shrine located at Wat Mahabut in Bangkok. Many believe her spirit still lingers there, and locals visit the shrine to ask for her blessings or to pay respects. The shrine is known for its spooky atmosphere and the many offerings left by those who seek to appease her spirit.
