Marbas - Demon and Spirit of Solomon

Marbas

Marbas, also known as Barbas, is a powerful Fallen Angel and the fifth spirit named among the seventy-two Spirits of Solomon. In the infernal hierarchy, he holds the rank of President and commands thirty-six legions of demons.

He is said to appear first in the form of a great lion, fierce and imposing, before assuming the shape of a man when commanded by the magician. This transformation reflects one of his most feared powers: the ability to alter human beings into different forms and change their appearance according to his will.

Marbas is a revealer of hidden things. He can uncover secrets, expose concealed knowledge and bring to light what others have attempted to bury. Nothing hidden remains entirely beyond his sight, making him a spirit associated with investigation, revelation and forbidden understanding.

He is also closely connected with disease and healing. Traditional grimoires claim that Marbas can both cause illness and remove it, giving him dominion over the mysterious forces that weaken or restore the human body. This dual power makes him both dangerous and valuable, for the same spirit who inflicts suffering is also believed capable of ending it.

Marbas is further known as a master of wisdom, craftsmanship and the mechanical arts. He can reveal knowledge concerning machines, construction, engineering and the hidden principles behind how things work. His intelligence is practical as well as occult, granting insight into both physical structures and invisible forces.

Yet Marbas should never be treated as a harmless symbol or a figure of entertainment. He represents transformation, hidden knowledge, sickness, healing and power over form itself. To approach such a spirit without discipline, preparation or understanding is to step blindly into forces far greater than curiosity.
