In the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, Melamud is one of over three hundred demons whose names must be scribed as part of the second day of the Holy Guardian Angel working. According to Mathers, Melamud's name may derive from a Hebrew word meaning "stimulus" or "exertion."
