Obagiro is a demon associated with the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, where he appears among the spirits connected with the famous Holy Guardian Angel operation.

Within the infernal hierarchy of the text, Obagiro serves beneath the arch-fiend Magoth. His appearance in the Abramelin material places him within a system in which the magician first seeks divine authority and spiritual alignment before attempting to command the demonic forces that later appear in the work.

The name of this spirit varies according to translation. In the influential 1898 English edition prepared by occultist Samuel L. MacGregor Mathers, Obagiro appears under the form Abagiron. Such variations are common throughout grimoire literature, where names changed as manuscripts were copied, translated and transmitted across different languages and occult traditions.

Obagiro is therefore significant less for an elaborate individual mythology than for the ritual structure in which his name appears. The Sacred Magic of Abramelin does not present demons as independent curiosities. They belong to an ordered magical universe in which spiritual authority determines whether the practitioner commands or is overwhelmed.

That distinction lies at the heart of the Abramelin system. The magician is not meant to approach infernal forces casually. The entire operation is built around the idea that genuine command must arise from a higher source of authority, and only after that authority has been established can the darker powers be confronted.

Knowledge Without Authority Is Useless

Reading the name Obagiro tells you almost nothing unless you understand the magical system surrounding him. Grimoires such as the Sacred Magic of Abramelin were never written as collections of entertaining demon names. They preserve a worldview in which power depended upon preparation, discipline and the ability to stand within a spiritual hierarchy without being dominated by it.

The Occult World Mystery School is for those who want to move beyond superficial occultism and begin understanding how these systems actually work. Demonology becomes far more serious when you realise that the old magicians were not merely fascinated by spirits. They were obsessed with authority, because they understood that approaching hidden forces without inner control was the fastest way to become controlled by them.

If you want to understand Black Magick as something deeper than aesthetics and frightening terminology, then you must become capable of recognising the principles beneath the rituals. The occultist who learns to master attention, intention and discipline no longer moves through life as someone waiting for circumstances to decide everything.

There are thousands of spirits, gods, demons, magical systems, grimoires and forgotten traditions waiting beyond it.

Enter the Occult World Mystery School and begin studying the occult from the position it was always meant to be approached from: not as a frightened spectator staring into the darkness, but as someone determined to understand power deeply enough to stop surrendering control of their own world.
