Olisermon: Demon of Magoth and Kore
Olisermon is a demon named in The Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, where he appears among the numerous spirits governed by greater infernal powers. His name, which is also written Olosirmon, has been interpreted as possibly meaning “of short speech,” although the surviving text gives little further explanation of the significance of this name.
Within the hierarchy of Abramelin, Olisermon serves beneath the joint authority of Magoth and Kore. These powerful demonic rulers command extensive companies of subordinate spirits, and Olisermon belongs to the shadowed ranks that operate beneath their combined leadership.
No elaborate appearance, personality or individual office is assigned to Olisermon in the surviving material. Like many lesser demons preserved in ceremonial grimoires, he is known primarily through his name and allegiance. His importance therefore lies in the structure surrounding him, a supernatural system of rulers, servants and carefully organised chains of command through which the magician seeks to understand and control the spirits encountered within the Abramelin operation.
Olisermon may be obscure, but that obscurity is characteristic of the deeper layers of demonology. Beyond the famous names lie hundreds of spirits whose identities survive only in old manuscripts, waiting within the hierarchies of grimoires that were never intended to be casual reading.
