Aegle (dazzling light) In Greek mythology, one of the Hesperides, who guarded the Golden Apples. The name is also that of the youngest daughter of Asclepius and Epine (or Lampetia); a sister of Phaethon, who was transformed into a poplar; and beloved of Theseus when he abandoned Ariadne.
