Agor: Chief Duke of the Day
Agor is named as a chief duke serving beneath the demon Malgaras. Within the hierarchy of the Ars Theurgia, he belongs to a system of spirits connected with direction, time, power, and command. Agor is especially linked to the powers of the day and is said to have thirty lesser spirits under his authority.
His name and seal appear in the Ars Theurgia, a seventeenth-century grimoire that forms part of the wider Solomonic magical tradition. This text describes numerous spirits associated with the points of the compass, presenting them within a structured spiritual geography of rulership and influence. Through his connection with Malgaras, Agor is associated with the west, a direction often symbolically connected with endings, descent, mystery, and the movement toward hidden realms.
Although little is written about Agor compared with more famous demonic figures, his presence in the Ars Theurgia places him within an important current of ceremonial magic. He represents the lesser-known but highly structured world of spirit hierarchies, where dukes, princes, kings, and subordinate spirits are arranged according to direction, time, and occult authority.
For students of demonology and grimoire magic, Agor is a reminder that the demonic world of the old texts is not limited to the famous seventy-two spirits of the Goetia. The grimoires contain many overlooked names, seals, and systems of power, each offering insight into how magicians of the past understood the invisible world.
