Pandarus (he who flays all) In Greek and Roman mythology, the go-between of the lovers Troilus and Cressida. Pandarus was killed by Diomedes during the Trojan War. Pandarus appears in Homer’s Iliad (book 2), Vergil’s Aeneid (book 5), Boccaccio’s Filostrato, Chaucer’s Troilus and Criseyde, and Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida. The word pander, meaning procurer, comes from Pandarus.
