Camilla (feminine form of Camillus) In Roman mythology, a virgin queen of the Volsci (Volscians) and a daughter of Metabus and Casmilla; she fought against Aeneas. Camilla was dedicated to the goddess Diana and fought with one breast exposed to give greater freedom to her bow arm. Camilla was killed by Aruns’s spear in an ambush, according to Vergil’s Aeneid (book 7).
