Lado
Lado is the sacred partner and consort of Lada, Goddess of Spring. He is her male counterpart and is invoked for romantic happiness and domestic bliss. Lado may be interpreted as “spouse”; it may be a title or epithet rather than a name. He is the essence of springtime; the urge to find a partner and make merry. Lado may or may not be the male spirit venerated under the guise of John the Baptist during the Russian Midsummer’s Eve feast known as Ivan Kupalo.
