Mount Sleza

The Sudety Mountains are in southwestern Poland and run along the border with the Czech Republic. Local legends say this mountain range was formed after the fallen angel Lucifer was cast out of heaven and into hell. The entrance to the underworld was alleged to be located in the region where the mountains now stand. Once Lucifer was cast below, the angels of heaven closed the entrance by piling rocks and dirt on top, forming the Sudety Mountains.

One would think that locals would simply avoid such a place, considering its evil lore, but this isn’t the case. These mountains are also said to be rich with gold and crystals, but these same mountains are also said to be guarded by a spirit who protects the mountains’ treasures. Mount Sleza is said to be where this spirit dwells and is sighted most often. Some say that those who find the right cavern or who are willing to dig into Mount Sleza may find the entrance to hell in these mountains.
