Oemiel

Oemiel is a demon who serves beneath the infernal king Armadiel within the northern hierarchy described in the Ars Theurgia. His name and seal are preserved in the text together with instructions concerning the conditions under which he may be summoned and compelled to appear.

Oemiel is distinguished by an unusually strict relationship with time. The Ars Theurgia divides the daylight period into fifteen portions, and Oemiel is assigned exclusively to the final portion of the day. According to the grimoire, an attempt to call him outside this appointed period will fail because he will not manifest at any other time.

This limitation reflects one of the central principles running through the Ars Theurgia: spirits do not simply exist as wandering supernatural beings waiting to answer whenever a magician chooses to summon them. Their manifestation is governed by an occult order in which authority, direction and timing determine when contact is possible.

Oemiel therefore represents more than another obscure name in the infernal hierarchy. His presence reveals the precision expected of the magician working within this tradition. The correct seal alone is not enough. The operator must understand the structure surrounding the spirit and approach it according to the conditions laid down by the grimoire.
