Ose

Ose - Demon and Spirit of Solomon

The Demon Ose is a Fallen Angel and 57th of the 72 Spirits of Solomon. Ose is a president in Hell, who appears first as aleopard and then as a human. He teaches all liberal sciences and gives true answers to questions about divine and secret things. He can change people into any shape desired by the magician; the victims will not know they have been changed. He commands three Legions of Demons. According to Johann Weyer ( Wier ), Ose also will make people insane and delusional, so that they will believe they are kings and such. The delusions only last for an hour.

From “The Goetia: The Lesser Key of Solomon the King” (1904) Written by S.L. MacGregor Mathers

OSE, or VOSO. – The Fifty-seventh Spirit is Oso, Ose, or Voso. He is a Great President, and appeareth like a Leopard at the first, but after a little time he putteth on the Shape of a Man. His Office is to make one cunning in the Liberal Sciences, and to give True Answers of Divine and Secret Things; also to change a Man into any Shape that the Exorcist pleaseth, so that he that is so changed will not think any other thing than that he is in verity that Creature or Thing he is changed into. He governeth 3024 Legions of Spirits, and this is his Seal, etc.

From the “Pseudomonarchia Daemonum” ( 1583 ) Written by Johann Weyer (Johann Wier)

Ose [Oze] is a great president, and commeth foorth like a leopard, and counterfeting to be a man, he maketh one cunning in the liberall sciences, he answereth truelie of divine and secret things, he transformeth a mans shape, and bringeth a man to that madnes [or, “drives insanity away”], that he thinketh himselfe to be that which he is not; as that he is a king or a pope, or that he weareth a crowne on his head, Durátque id regnum ad horam [and makes the kingdom of time endure (?).]

Original Text :Oze Præses magnus, procedit similis leopardo: sed hominem mentitus, reddit prudentem in artibus liberalibus: vere resondet de divinis and occultis: transmutat hominis formam: and ad eam insaniam eum redigit, ut sibi persuadeat esse quod non est, quemadmodum se esse regem vel papam, and coronam in capite gestare: duratque id regnum horam.

From the “Dictionnaire Infernal” (edition of 1863 ) Written by Jacques Auguste Simon Collin de Plancy
