Stigonomancy is divination by writing on the bark of the tree.

Etymology

Derived from the Greek stizein ('to brand') and manteia ('prophecy')

Method

Stigonomancy requires much patience as the diviner has to wait until the signs (mostly runes) he carves on the tree evolve into significant figures.
