Inachiel: Infernal Duke of Soleviel
Inachiel is an infernal duke named in the Ars Theurgia, where he serves beneath Soleviel, a mighty wandering prince of the air. Soleviel travels with an immense retinue of subordinate spirits, and Inachiel belongs to the twelve chief dukes who hold authority within this aerial hierarchy.
Inachiel himself commands an extraordinary host. According to the grimoire, 1,840 lesser spirits serve beneath him and carry out his will, placing him far above the countless unnamed entities occupying the lower levels of the spirit hierarchy. His authority is therefore not merely symbolic. Within the magical cosmology of the Ars Theurgia, he rules over an entire body of subordinate spirits.
Inachiel’s service to Soleviel follows an unusual cycle. He is said to attend his prince every other year, suggesting that the invisible courts described in the Ars Theurgia operate according to their own patterns of duty, movement and command.
Unlike many spirits whose appearance is restricted to particular hours, Inachiel is not bound to a specific period of manifestation. The text states that he may be called during the hours of either day or night, making him comparatively unrestricted within the ritual framework assigned to Soleviel’s dukes.
Inachiel therefore belongs to the vast aerial hierarchy that gives the Ars Theurgia its distinctive character. These are not solitary demons wandering without order, but princes, dukes and countless subordinate spirits arranged into enormous invisible courts, moving through the air according to systems of allegiance and authority.
