Dubois, Thomas
Dubois, Thomas – DuBois has examined Saami engagements with Norse communities, arguing that there was far more contact than previously thought, to the point that creative religious exchange ensued. The practice of seidr was shared to an extent, although it is unclear to what extent Viking seidr derives from Saami shamanic practices. Neil Price has advanced the argument archaeologically, attending to examples of Saami and Norse burials where gender and cultural conventions are disrupted, interpreting these as examples of seidr practitioners.
